In 2007, the Citrus County Sheriff's Office contracted with the Department
of Children & Families to provide child protective investigative services
for Citrus County. In this arrangement, the Sheriff's Office has been
given full freedom and latitude to develop models of investigations that
best serve the children in their community. Using law enforcement and
community resources, our investigative methods are now used in child
protective investigations.
The Citrus County Sheriff's Office model is part of the Criminal
Investigations Division and is identified as the Child Protective
Investigations Section. The section consists of two squads
with daytime, evening and weekend coverage with a supervisor out
in the field at all times. The unit is staffed by non-sworn
investigators and supervised by
Lt. Dave Wyllie, a
senior law enforcement officer with a background in child abuse/sex
crime investigations.
If you see or suspect child abuse,
please call 911 or
