The Criminal Investigation Division is comprised of the Major Crimes Section and the Special Investigations Section. The Major Crimes Section is composed of two squads of detectives who are assigned to investigate and follow up on crimes within both the East and West Districts. The type of investigations that the Major Crimes Section is responsible for are: homicides, robberies, fraud and financial crimes, aggravated crimes against persons, crimes against children involving abuse/sexual abuse/criminal neglect or death, adult related sex crimes (rape), ensuring Sexual Offenders and Predators are abiding by their registration and living requirements, Internet Crimes Against Children, performing digital computer forensics, missing persons and cold case investigations. Our Forensic Unit is also under this section and is responsible for the processing of crime scenes, latent print examinations, and processing evidence in our crime lab.
The Special Investigations Section is composed of our School Resource Officer Program, School Crossing Guards, Evidence Security and Storage, Victim Resource Advocates and Special Projects.
