Each year, the Sheriff's Office, along with the Citrus County Chronicle, hosts
the Sheriff's Summer Safety program for kids and parents. The event is held at
the Citrus County Auditorium and helps keep everyone informed about staying safe,
particularly when kids are out of school. The day is filled
with activities for children, including many drawings for
prizes. Each kid will also receive a string backpack filled with goodies
(while supplies last). Free bike helmets
are distributed (while supplies last), too. As always, the elementary classroom
having the highest percentage of attendance on both the east and west side of
the county will get a pizza party with Sheriff Dawsy as a special guest.
A new partnership with Suncoast Business Masters helped make this
year’s summer safety event even bigger and better than
before. SBM added a wide array of summer camps and activities
available to the youth of Citrus County, making fun-filled,
rewarding options accessible to youngsters, parents and families.
