Brian Spiddle is the Captain of the Patrol Division. Brian has been a Citrus County resident since 1984 and was previously from upstate New York. Brian graduated from Lecanto High School and, in 1994 earned an Associate of Arts degree from Central Florida College, as well as graduated from the Law Enforcement Academy and the Corrections Crossover Academy at Withlacoochee College. He has also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia Southern University.

Brian began his career as a Detention Deputy at the Citrus County Sheriff's Office working in the jail. He has held positions of Communications Officer, Patrol Deputy, Patrol CST., Detective ID and Evidence, Detective Major Crimes, Officer in Charge Forensics, Forensics Sergeant, Lieutenant of Major Crimes and Captain of the Criminal Investigation Division.

In 2015 he was selected to attend the 134th session of the Southern Police Institute's Administrative Officer's Course in Louisville, Kentucky, where he graduated Dean's Scholar. In 2017 he was promoted to Captain and assigned as the Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division. He most recently graduated from the Florida Sheriff’s Institute Commander’s Academy in July 2019. As of October 2022, Captain Spiddle transferred from the Criminal Investigations Division to become Captain of the Patrol Division. 

Captain Spiddle has been active in the community through his work coaching Crystal River Little League Baseball and Softball. He also supports the Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranch, United Way, Jessie's Place, Shop with a Cop, Take Stock in Children, and the Special Olympics. Brian enjoys boating, fishing, and traveling with his wife Sheila, and their four children.
