Christopher began his law enforcement career in 1990 at the Dunnellon Police Department, where he worked in a variety of capacities. He was a patrol officer, evidence custodian, detective corporal, and crime scene technician.  During his time with Dunnellon Police, he was a volunteer firefighter with Citrus County Fire Rescue. 

After seven years in Dunnellon, he began his career with the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy sheriff.   During his 24 years of service with CCSO, while ultimately attaining the rank of Sheriff’s Lieutenant, he served in many roles such as Community Policing Deputy, Crime Scene Technician, Bike Patrol, Detective Sergeant, Certified Crime Prevention Practitioner (FCPP), Accreditation, Volunteer Coordinator, 9-1-1 Communications Manager, Team Leader of the Crisis Negotiations Team, and Deputy Director of Emergency Management.  

He retired from CCSO in 2021 as the interim Emergency Management Director.

After a short 6-month stint in retirement, Chris returned to the Sheriff’s Office as a Background Investigator in Human Resources where he implemented improved processes.  He is a certified Truth Examiner and has performed many Truth Verification examinations.  In March of 2023, he was called back into service by Sheriff Prendergast as the county’s Emergency Management Director. 

Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and has hundreds of hours of law enforcement, medical, fire, and emergency management training including multiple activations and deployments.  He holds the rating of single-engine airplane pilot.  He has been married to his wife Ronda for nearly 30 years.  They have a child who attends Auburn University in Alabama.  Chris has said “Being an emergency manager is one of the best jobs in the world.  I love working for the CCSO and serving the citizens of Citrus County.”
