The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Citizens’ Academy is a hands-on, interactive, behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of your Sheriff’s Office. This 12-week educational series of classes is taught by experienced sheriff’s officials who share their unique perspective on law enforcement. Best of all – it is free.

If you’re an active Citrus County community member, you can do just that and more through this amazing experience. The academy teaches Citrus County residents the mission and the behind-the-scenes operations of the Sheriff’s Office. So far, the Citizens’ Academy has proudly graduated more than 2,500 active community members.

Every January, our evening classes (6 p.m. – 9 p.m.) are reserved for high school students to learn more about their Sheriff’s Office. Students interested in attending the academy should fill out the Citizens’ Academy Students Application.
